Group Updates Summer 2023
Nobody from the group graduated last year, but Hayley Hemme joined our group as a new PhD student! As usual, we kept publishing a few papers, which you can learn more about in the publications section of the website.

Group Updates Summer 2022
We had another great REU student join us this summer, Annika Cleven. Together with Zane, she continued work on a project that Jacqueline started in the prior year. The paper should be done soon.

Group Updates Spring 2022
Three students in the group successfully graduated. Yang Ge is now an assistant professor at the University of Southern Mississippi; Amanda Skarlupka is now a president’s fellow at the NIH; and Savannah Hammerton continued in our group, now as a PhD student.

Group Updates Summer 2021
Rachel successfully graduated in spring of 2021 and is now working as a Postdoc at the NIH! We had two great REU students join us this summer, Jacqueline and Salil. They made a lot of progress on each of their projects during the summer.

Updates for the new year
Recently, a new PhD student, Zane, joined our group. He previously did an REU in our group and liked it enough to apply to our PhD program and now joined the team.

A few more publications
We recently had a few new publications come out: One of the PhD thesis chapters of our former student Brian got published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society B, and we had a few COVID related papers come out, as well as a few on assorted other infectious disease topics.

Several COVID-19 related projects
Like most infectious disease modelers, we have gotten involved in several COVID-19 related projects recently. A lot of work is done as part of UGA’s Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases, most of those projects can be found here.

A few new publications
We recently published a few new papers: An introduction and review of simulation modeling in the within-host/immunology level, a study of cough distribution in TB patients and a description of our within-host modeling R package.

Brian McKay defended his PhD thesis. Congratulations, Dr. McKay! Watch papers from his PhD work come out in the next year, lots of great flu research!
